Some kind words from our guests on Tripadvisor
Excellent in Every Way
My family spent three memorable and wonderful days at Faul House. The experience was excellent in every way: friendly and helpful, but mellow and unobtrusive hosts; comfortable, clean, pleasant accommodations including lovely touches like a hot water bottle in my son’s bed and turf (peat) fire cracking in the sitting room; delicious, quality breakfast with a great selection of choices served formally (without being stuffy) on chinaware; expansive and gorgeous surroundings to wander among bogs, pet Connemara ponies, explore by the sea; quiet, rural, peaceful, safe location near Clifden. Kathleen and Michael are true professionals and genuine people who have refined the art and science of running a B&B. They have thought through all of the little details that make a B&B truly accommodating and enjoyable. By far, Faul House was the best place we stayed on our 9-day trip to Ireland. If you want refinement without pretension, an authentic Irish experience without cliche, an opportunity to explore this stunning area without experience crowds, Faul House is a perfect base camp.

Perfect place for family and pet
We recently stayed at Faul House on a short tour around Connemara and were all delighted with our choice. I have worked as a guide and travelled extensively in Ireland and have probably stayed in 100 B&B’s over the years. This one is right up there in the top league! The owners were so nice and welcoming, the rooms nice and comfortable, the breakfast outstanding.
We had booked Faul House as they were one of only a handful of places we found in the West of Ireland were dogs were allowed. We were travelling with a 15-month old Irish doodle and this was his first trip and overnight away from home. He loved it. The rooms reserved for pet-owners are near the back door so that you can get in and out without any hassle and without disturbing anyone else. There are wooden floors so the rooms are easily cleaned to make sure they are spotless for the next visitors. The house is situated on a very quiet road that leads down to the sea, ideal for a little stroll in the evening and before breakfast. On our way down to the sea we met a horse and her new foal, three donkeys and on the way up the pregnant pony in the front garden …. which was actually not supposed to be there and was quickly lured away by the landlady 😉
This is actually the first time I have posted on tripadvisor, but we were so impressed with our stay, I just wanted to say thank you this way. Go there – you’ll love it.
A very special B&B in a magical part of Ireland
Just spent two nights in the wonderful Faul House outside Clifden in Connemara and what a special experience. This B&B is a little hideaway of warm, welcoming hospitality in the most mystical of landscapes. Sea views, ancient old walls and hawthorn trees leaning into atlantic breezes all around conjure up otherworldly times. The walks were stunning and the light in the evenings is a painters dream – think Turner and Blake delicate gold and fiery orange. In the midst of this, the wonderful hosts Kathleen and Michael run a B&B that mixes the best of modern facilities with old-fashioned charm. The combination of open fires, home-made brown bread with spotless rooms and everything we needed was a joy to find. The super-comfortable bed and deep silence of the country side left us feeling relaxed and utterly refreshed after our stay and birdsong in the morning was a delight for city dwellers. Also great fun was had with our hosts Michael and Kathleen and I wanted to take the little dog Ruby home with me! Can’t recommend this B&B highly enough.
Best B&B in Clifden Connemara Ireland
We had a great time here, especially walking down through the historic family property to the sea, petting the miniature horse and mare with a new foal. We had fun collecting eggs for a really good breakfast topped off by Michael’s stewed rhubarb. Delightful people, clean and comfortable place. Kathleen guided us to some special walks and wonderful places to see. Would recommend to anyone and would definitely stay here again. Kudos to Kathleen and Michael as great hosts.

My husband and I recently spent 2 nights here and had a fantastic time. Kathleen the hostess is a delight and makes you feel at home. The rooms are spotless and the beds are *SO* comfortable. There is a peat fire at night which is a special Connemara experience. Breakfast was top notch. I know it seems like a simple thing, but Kathleen cooks the best scrambled eggs I’ve ever eaten. Maybe it was because they raise the chickens on the farm!
The location was fantastic. The B&B is on a farm, and the hosts let you walk around. The day we were there there was a new faul we got to see which was fantastic. There are lovely views of the inlet. I recommend the relatively short walk to town if you are into such things. The walk along the lane is beautiful, and there are many lovely sights you will miss going by fast in the car.
In all, I highly recommend this B&B.
If your in cliffen, this is where you should stay, can’t recommend it enough!
This is the most welcoming house I have ever stayed in, so homely and comfortable. The lady of the house Kathleen was there to greet myself and my husband when we arrived, giving us such a nice welcome. The room we stayed in was bright and spacious and catered for all our needs. We stayed for three nights and I particularly enjoyed Kathleen’s smoked salmon breakfast, such a big menu to choose from. We were looking for some ideas as to where to go and what to do and Kathleen’s local knowledge was invaluable. I would recommend faul house to anyone visiting the cliffen area and we intend to return next year without doubt.
